Looking Up Through a Birch Forest Paint by Numbers Kit
This canvas is like standing in a wood and tilting your head right back. Slim white birch trunks rise up on every side and converge toward the top of the frame, marked with the black scars and dashes that make birches unmistakable. Between and above them stretches a brilliant blue sky, and overhead the canopy spreads out in a spray of yellow green, built from thousands of tiny clustered leaf marks that fade from lime at the edges to rich green in the middle. Small black birds flicker through the open blue.
The flat poster style makes this a wonderfully clean canvas to paint. The sky is a large, smooth blue that fills in no time, the trunks are pale shapes with crisp dark marks, and the canopy is the one area of dense detail, thousands of small dots that you build up area by area. It is a very forgiving combination and the result looks far more designed than a kit painting usually does.
