Description
Gossamer Butterfly Glowing in Pink Light Paint by Numbers Kit
A butterfly hovers dead centre with its wings open wide, and you can almost see through it. The colour runs across each wing in a single soft sweep: a clear spring green along the leading edge, melting through lime and pale mint into blush and rose at the trailing edge, with the veins showing through as faint lighter lines. The body is a bright apple green with two thin antennae curving up and out, and behind the whole insect a pale halo spreads outward, blurring its silhouette. The background is one continuous gradient, cool green in the top left corner drifting across a warm cream centre into a deep rose pink on the right and bottom, and scattered across all of it are bright bokeh circles, tiny rainbow specks and fine drifts of glowing dots that look like pollen or stardust floating in the air.
This is a picture made almost entirely of softness, and the discipline it asks for is restraint. There are no outlines to fill, so the butterfly has to be built by gradually working the greens into the pinks along the wing so the two meet without a seam, and the round brush thinned with a little water will do that better than anything else in the kit. Behind it, the background gradient should be laid down in broad bands and blended while the paint is still open, because sharp steps will immediately flatten the depth. The bokeh circles and specks are the only crisp marks on the canvas, and they should be added last, sparingly, with the liner brush.

Soft, Luminous and Deeply Relaxing
Because every edge in this picture is meant to be blurred, it is one of the most forgiving canvases in the range as well as one of the calmest to work on. The finished picture suits a bedroom, nursery, dressing room or reading corner, and it looks lovely in a plain white frame. A gentle gift for anyone who likes soft, dreamy colour.
