Seen from directly above, this canvas turns a group of young people into a board game. They stand on a floor made of enormous interlocking jigsaw pieces in cream, green, yellow and orange, and at the centre of it a boy in a green jacket is being challenged: a red haired girl in a white shirt holds out a long pole toward him while an orange haired girl in a white vest drops into a fighting stance. Around them, other figures crowd the edges of the frame, most of them seen from above as heads, shoulders and shoes.
The overhead angle is what makes this canvas so much fun, because everything is flattened into shapes.
